It has many variations, one of which involves knocking on the door of or pressing the doorbell of the victim, and then running away before they get to the door. One suggested origin is that in the UK, the doors of council estates were once stained ginger, hence the name.Victims of this prank are not likely to call the police. However- If the victim does decide to call the police, the charges can be as extreme as terrorism.
