New York harcore (NYHC) refers to hardcore punk and metalcore music created in New York City and to the subculture associated with that music. When New York hardcore is referred to, it is usually to contrast it with Washington, D.C. hardcore, lead by bands such as Bad Brains and Minor Threat.
