Micrurus fulvius is a venomous elapi species found only in the southeastern United States. Not to be confused with its harmless mimics, the scarlet snake (Cemophora coccinae) and the scarlet kingsnake (Lampropeltis triangulum elapsoides). No subspecies are currently recognized.
